A Special Pastor and His Wife
A SPECIAL PASTOR & HIS WIFE
On their 40th anniversary
Forty years have passed now since you took marriage vows,
And as “The Ready Writer,” I want to say this now:
I’ve known so many preachers and pastors in my days,
And they have tried to teach me about the righteous ways,
But never have I known one as many years as you;
I’ve seen such great compassion in all you say and do.
Your wife, too, is quite special with her smile and love to show
And always chooses happy wherever she may go.
Your preaching just gets better—so many, many times
It’s just what then I needed to touch this life of mine.
I love it when emotion takes over in your eyes,
You shed tears unashamed then as then you realize
The Holy Spirit’s working to minister to YOU,
It reaches out to others just like you want it to.
For two and thirty years now we’ve known your family
And much of what you’ve been through we have been there to see.
Your faith, determination, stayed steady all the while
ESPECIALLY times when Satan so tried to steal your smile!
So, on this special day now we thank the Lord above
For a pastor and his wife who know how to share God’s love.
May the years that God yet gives you will even greater be,
With your service to our Saviour and our church family!
