A Song For a Friend

Today
Let the sun be friendly
For it's been marked with the ink of specialty
Today
Let the sky drop no tears
For the mat of honour has been laid
Today
Let the wind maintain its gentle pace
As the trees would lend ears
And the pets their gracious gaze
To my song
My song for a wonderful friend
Oluwatoba
The legitimate son of Aragbaye

Oluwatoba o!
Today
With the melody of my flute
I adorn your head with a golden crown
So rule just like a King
Today
With the hailing tone of my gangan
I ordain your palm with the special wand
Just say it and it shall stay
Today
With my voice, sonorous as the Nubia's
I command the world
To form you a circle
As you dance to the empire
Of favour, knowledge, joy, happiness, God's mercy, good
fortune, long prosperous life and many other related
empires
