A Soldier's Struggle

Didn’t want to sign up,
to settle a stupid score.
Only wanted to help those,
to show they’re not alone.

Lord, I can’t shake the fear,
Please keep me close to you.
My baby lost her mommy,
God please don’t take me too.

Can somebody see me or can
you hear what we are going through?
Soldiers all around are dying,
and crying to go home.

I can hear the enemy in the distance,
wanting to kill us all.
Angels, please shield and protect me,
because blood is all they know.
I’m not sure I will see, or survive
tomorrow or today,
If I get to go home now, I’ll never
be the same.

Yes, please get me out of here,
My friend was burned alive.
Please Jesus hear my prayer,
Now another lost his life.

Another day has started once
again,
The starry sky has turned crimson
red.
Somewhere a soldier cries out in
pain,
Then somewhere else one is dead.

A very good write. You have captured the grief of a soldier very well, Natalie. The warmongers, do they care anything about the poor soldiers. You have written for a good cause. -Mohammad
