A Simple Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep
Keep me where I will not weep
If I should die before I wake
Let me ascend to heavens gate

If I should live another day
Help me to be all that I may
So I may be a light for you
To show others that You're true

If I should live another year
Help me to be so sincere
Let me praise with all I have
So some see your mercy is a salve

To heal their lives and save their souls
To mend each heart so full of holes
Help me to know you more each day
So full of love I want to stay

If I should live a long long life
Help me to cope with all life's strife
I end this prayer with this request
Help me to be my very best

Charles, a nice variation on the old familiar bedtime prayer. I like how you include different lifespans since "of that day and hour knoweth no man". God bless you, brother

Thanks for the review, My inspiration was the cheese head prayer that starts " Now I lay me down to sleep a bag of peanuts at my feet if I should die before I wake please give them to my brother jake." The rest just came and built on each verse.
