A Simple Beginning

Opening eyes to a newly born day
There is something amiss in the air
Pushing through that morning routine
Off on a wing and a prayer

Closing the door you notice your watch
In spinning time awfully fast
Holding deep the scents of the new dawn
Hoping the feeling will last

Out into the daylight on fast moving streets
Absorbing the happenings around
Sensing the pattern of a rhythmical striding
The soldiers have arrived back in town
