A Sign In the Clouds
A sudden feeling came over me
forcing me to ride down the busy street
Something deep inside propelled me
to embark on a spontaneous journey
I wandered in the overgrown bush
looking desperately for something to cook
I circled around the bushy park gazing at the dark
I stand on top of the grassy mound penetrating
the traffic moving hastily around
with prickles under my feet
I walked gingerly across the street
Big trucks and long vans with numerous labels
stirring up the heat in the middle of the street
I spend some time walking back and forth
Taking note of everything and praying to God
to cleanse me from my sins
Exit fifty three (A) hangs gentle on a tree
scrutinizing the travelers federal workers
and trouble makers
I tried to put things in context
but there was more for me to see
Something acute on the other side
was patiently waiting for me
I kept looking for a sign
to prove that God is divine
I turned around and headed East
And there they were waiting for me
in the grassy median beside sixty six East
Six birds flew in front of me
bound for Washington East
I followed them to the top of the street
and stared at the cloud thundering upon me
I could feel God's power
resonating from the ground
There is a sign in the clouds
And it is moving all around
