A Shining Sun
I seem to have forgotten how to dream,
no longer allowing disappointments.
To once again let myself fantasize,
with this or that would I then be happy?
There is in life more valuable things,
than can be kept under a lock and key.
The heart too is a place for precious things,
in it we keep those deepest emotions.
Worth more than gold we hold on so tightly,
yet to let it shine is the gift of love.
We fear that it will be unrequited,
and once again wear our heart on our sleeve.
The power of love can save the world,
but we must have faith and then set it free.
For like the dawn that destroys the darkened sky,
our dreams are realized by the rising sun.
For then will our lives be vindicated,
and a shining sun be that kingdom come!
