A Shepherd's Thoughts

Living a life looking after my sheep
being a shepherd all my days
learning well the tools of the trade
there on my knees daily prays

But this baby I had came to see
was spoken of by prophets of old
the messiah that Isaiah spoke of
come as the people had been told

Here he was before my eyes
Jesus the messiah came to save
to shine his light into the dark
for our sins this saviour gave

This babe conceived by holy spirit
is God himself covered by human skin
to grow up as indeed son of man
?one day to die for humanity's sin

This moment I never will forget
my eyes like Simeon saw my salvation
this is the love of God incarnate
bringing to earth eternal redemption
