A Shakespeare I'Ll Never Be!
Well, Sir Ralph: You've challenged me to my very first taggin' game!
I doubt very much that this verse will win a Pulitzer Prize er bring me fame,
But, hopefully, it might light in the soul uv a strugglin' poet a sizzlin' flame,
That will to a buddin' bard, shower glory and honor on his/her name!
Alas, my forte seems to be writin' stuff with rhythm and rhyme.
I've tried other forms, but they ain't turned out to be worth a dime.
Tho' a Shakespeare, Longfellow, Kilmer or Poe I'll never be,
I'll jes' keep on writin' frum the soul, lettin' my quill flow free!
Well, Sir Ralph: You say you ain't a poet but I happen to disagree.
If I could compose half as well as you I'd consider myself in great company!
I had better bring a close to this vacuous and nonsensical verse.
I fear that if I keep on babblin', it could grow to become much "vorse!"
