A Shady Bench

Been cooped inside for months except For exercise at dawn Until today, when to the river We were strongly drawn. The mugginess had disappeared And with a gentle breeze It felt delightful strolling ‘Neath the softly swaying trees. We fortunately nabbed a bench And knew we had it made Because it was a rare one In a lovely patch of shade. To check out boats and people watch Allowed me to believe That life was back to normal And I didn’t want to leave. Alas, we gave our bench away And, at a languid pace, Proceeded home to our cocoon, Our masks held firm in place.

Who knew back then that an everyday occurrence would someday feel like a mini-vacation? Glad you got a respite from the cocoon, ilene!

Interesting! We are permitted to walk, but not to sit, because the virus might linger to infect the next occupant. If only New Jersey would quarantine Trump, our world would be much safer! Aloha! Rico

I'm back to my daily walks around the complex, five times around is one mile. My doctor says I should increase y alks to ten times. Easy for him to say, he's much younger than me. Those five times, I think, are enough to keep me from rigor mortis. / M

'Our masks held firm in place' --- sounds like the new state song, kind of like New Hampshire's, which ends: "And the granite of NH, in their muscles and their brains." (Yuk!... I went to Dartmouth in Hanover, NH for four awful years. That's how I know the song). Smiles, Gershon
