A Shade

Incense and peppermint
shades go round
smoke curls shapes abound
night passes and a life spent

Suspense and clover
shadow mocks
stranger knocks
the windows frosted over

Intense and cruely sober
memory hurts
heart spurts
facing the cliffs of Dover
