A Selected Few

I sit all alone in a dark room my life is heartache and gloom My my only friend and ally is me I don't possess a thing called glee Will the sun ever shine again will I find the rainbow? My thoughts are pure torture and I have no plans for my future I live and breathe in utter darkness my resting place is total abiss It is pure hell getting thru another day will peace and joy ever come my way? I long to know joy in the depths of my soul I want to be completely and utterly whole Is happiness only for a selected few? How can I feel brand new? Is peace, joy and wholeness only an illusion? I will not believe that and that's my hopeful conclusion Alexis Y. 7-23-17

A very intense poem, Alexis. Hopefully you are one of the selected few.

Strong poem, Alexis. Writing about the dark side of emotions scare a lot of people. And knowing the type of poetess you are, you observe this subject matter in other people and write about it. It ain't always about them self when a poet writes. I wish other poets understood this essential premise better. They need to read my poem, "Poet to Poet" to gain a better perspective on when a poet speaks. I loved this dark poem. It speaks to a lot of people's pain. Love and joy always.

Alexis at the end of your poem you mention that you will not believe peace, joy and wholeness is only an 'illusion'. I am happy you will not believe it is an illusion, because it can certainly come to you. :) Take care
