A Secret Kept
He knew he'd suffer a cruel persecution
He performed all that was needed for ablution.
Certain secrets, as a priest, he could not disclose
Indeed, he chose thorns for himself, not any rose.
He went with his secret as a lynx or a fish.
To be steadfast in his faithfulness was his wish.
For a secret's sake, he's ready to face a sword.
Would he confide his heart to his master and lord?
