A secret best kept
Depression will do all sorts to you
It will make it so dark to see through
It will take everything you have inside
And leave your body alone to hide
From who you were to who you become
Depression makes the mind so numb
It eats away from the inside out
Your body empty all throughout
Mania then takes a stand
Everything becomes hard to understand
Voices or visions cloud your mind
The real you becomes hard to find
Medication is meant to mask the madness
But it doesn't fix the internal sadness
Reality or delusion all day long
Never knowing if what your saying is right or wrong
Body aches as well as the mind
Peace and clarity so hard to find
Laying in the dark to keep it at bay
Thinking it's easier to end the pain
Depression and mania are an ugly couple
It leaves the person deep in sorrow
To be brave to face the hallucination
Means madness is the situation
I want to curl up in a ball
And say goodbye to it all
But I have to stay, it won't defeat me
I know the power is still within me
So bipolar stick around
I'll smile less and give you a frown
Throw in psychosis, why the hell not
You've already taken all iv got
So again I sit here alone
It's just another day of the unknown
Visions or voices come out to play
Medication please make then go away
This wont defeat me, not today
When I see the shadows I will look away
Laying in the dark to rest the mind
I'm going to make it hard for them to find
Bipolar is a friend and foe
Bipolar has made me get this low
But for now all I can do is accept
Bipolar is a secret best kept
