A Road Not Traveled

If you care for someone deeply,
How far do you travel with them
        When they're lost ?
This question presented itself
To me recently, and their path
        Was avoided & not crossed.

The journey could not be explored
By both of us, as I was unwilling to
        Share in that pain.
So I had to quit in this venture
With another, and knew there was
        No more to gain.

Sadly the residue remaining from
This friendship, was now broken and
        Filled with animus.
With only the memory that once
Was felt between two, only to be
        Leftover to one's alias.
