A Recovery Poem--For Anyone Struggling

A light show
Within the night sky
Strikes of lightning
Shines tonight,

The quiet rumbling
Of thunder,
I feel the heavens
Pull me under,

I’m in a trance,
While I watch the skies dance,

The winds blow stronger,
The raindrops start,

I close my eyes,
And open my heart,

My hair flows with the wind,
This is bliss, I don’t want it
To end,

My peace of mind,
Is in the sky,

I don’t say a word,
I don’t ask “why”,

Whoever’s making the skies
Bright,
I feel them enter
My somber mind,

This is my escape,
This is it,

The hairs on my neck
Stand up straight,

I feel the spirit of the sky
And it feels great,

The sky lights grow brighter,
And the thunder roars,

The trees start swaying,
To and fro,

I feel as light as the
Leaves of the trees,

“I surrender!” I scream
on bended knees,

“Oh thy in the sky,
Show me the way,
To the right path,
I don’t wish to astray”

The raindrops pour,
My skin is wet,

I can’t distinguish
The rain from my tears,

I’m finally free
From all my fears,

The spirit that
Is lighting up
The night,
Has given me the strength
To win this fight,

I stand up on my
Bare feet,
Hold out my arms
And admit I’m beat,

My second chance,
To do it right,
I’ll embrace the spirit
Of the sky,
With all my might,

A new start,
With a free heart and mind,
I’m going to do it,
One day at a time…
