A Record Nature Keeps
It is a record nature keeps Of all who pass through time As in the soil beneath our feet Entire kingdoms lie All silent now and slumbering All hidden from the eye Where once there was such revelry A bird song fills the sky Oh what a dream the heart can make When struggling to create On earth as in the heavens That holy first estate Oh what brick or sandstone Can stand the test of time Without the spirit joining first The heart with soul and mind Oh body be my temple And let the task begin For all the light that shines without Must first be seen within
