A Ray of Hope

A speckle of green, In a vast sea of concrete, Quite an enchanting scene, To the eyes a visual treat. Through a crack in the pavement, Slowly rises a tiny weed, Free from all enslavement, One in a million of its breed. When I saw it, My eyes filled with wonder, Rising tiny bit by bit, Through the cracked concrete yonder. Insignificant to many, Astonishing to me, That it had arisen from such a narrow cranny, Struggling to be free. Symbolising a ray of hope, In the midst of today's world, Fighting for survival and trying to cope, Was a plant which had unfurled.
