A Rainy May

At times it pours like a rain head shower Making heavy with rain those delicate May flowers Overcast days where the sun peaks out between clouds Humid and swampy wiping your face with a towel The grass so green grows extra long Way pass time to mow the lawn The trees leaf strong dancing in the breeze Staying damp and cool enough to make you sneeze The days are soft and the nights are warm The robin hunts worms for a nest of newborns No violent weather so far this May With grateful prayers it stays that way A dribble of raindrops the splatter of puddles Rainbows appearing in doubles The rhythm of the rain feels like a song Eases you into a nap with a beat that is calm A yawn and a stretch throughout the day So it goes in a rainy May.

Nice writing, Fritz. I enjoyed your poem, since May has been unusually dry here in north-eastern Kentucky. We have gotten rain in the last two days, however.
