A Rain Drop That's Never Wet Me

On this narrow strip of a thousand views,
A complete stranger to most
With every step I take towards you,
I burn the green lawn you host

If my candle can take your wind
I’m guaranteed a lifetime
But first, the key to your heart I must find
Before your love I can tame

The irregular heartbeat of a dying pain,
You built into a brick wall
Love hidden in the centre of the maize,
I dare ask you to fall

This isn’t a game of truth or dare,
What it’ll cost is my life
An empty bottle holds nothing, but air
A big fortune isn’t enough

The world is a vast, cultural mosaic,
True love for the lucky few,
A man cannot live only on socio-economic
Empty pleasure in a large screen TV

Love is a rain drop that’s never wet me
Marriage a romantic fantasy
With arms wide open, you’ll never greet me
I’ll settle for any unknown misery

This is a tainted window, love is blind
Behind a charming smile,
I live knowing you’ll never meet my mind
My eyes betray my soul

A lonely figure on the horizon says I’m not taken,
But I watch you walk away
A beautiful sunset is broken by shadow mountain
Night falls prematurely this day
