A Promise To Us

Nightfall's reign has ended
And all the souls have passed;
In light, they're finally rested
With the hope, it will be their last.

We look for love and peace
In our dreams and our souls,
Yet fail to see that all lives cease
As brittle as dried ancient scrolls.

For the time we have now
Let us seek both these things,
And make a permanent last vow
To steel ourselves and spread our wings.
