A Promise

I don’t remember the day I almost died
but they tell me that I did
now here I am to tell the tale
and the hopefulness it gives
for I made a promise to myself
to live as never before
cause life is all too frail my friend
to live behind closed doors
Be strong and happy everyday
let those you love know no bounds
for it may end too soon for you
to share what you have found
hold tight that love within your heart
and tend the seeds with care
for in the end that’s all we have
the love we’ve nurtured here

...and when our time on earth is through and we have gone away, the love we leave with others will help them find the way...my goodness, you do have a way with words. lary houston

Trudy, dear friend, I love this, so nostalgic, so true. At 80, this fits me perfectly. As for 'Old House'...I posted long, long ago under my pen name which I decided was silly so withdrew everything and haven't used the poems again under daver. Old House is super nostalgic. I'm just a sentimental old fool. Anywho, am posting Old House today just for you. Love, daver
