A Price of Love
Thou hath confessed thy love for me
I walked alone along thy course.
Opened the chamber of my heart -
Woven in thee, I forgot my own self.
Thou whisper kisses o'er our discourse,
Genuine kisses I returned to thee.
But I'm no man in thy heart;
Tis a price of my truth I received.
Thy outstretched arms awaited me,
I hug thee with love's pure crystal flame.
Thy gentle breast did press my heart
I melted in thee - lost once again.
I kissed thee on thy cheek as thou did longed,
Unveiled my sincere heart - yet crowned with coldness,
As though not a single step we walked together;
Like a stranger on the street, thou knew me no more.
Thou had thousands questions of me,
I strive for truth - aye, truth I am.
But thou in the revelation of thyself,
Hid me thy heart away from me.
The late night whispers hit me deep,
And opened the valve of my love,
Thou reside in me serene, at peace -
Yet thou doth confessed me - 'twas but to pass the time.
Broken and shattered, no tears remain,
I shall not weep for thee, again.
I'd wept thee much for love, sore
Let time, kind healer close me this door.
I'll see thee not, thou's death long in me
My cares, let it be, I shan't think more.
Like thorns within my flesh, pierced my eye,
A price of love, pure, so sure.
Ah! A folly heart, fall not again,
Endure the pain, yet forget not the lesson.
Love, divine path now duty's pain, chain
Let me be done with this, love's claim.
