A Praying Grandpa

A PRAYING GRANDPA

One grandchild there kneeling, praying then with me;
Soon there was another, now, Lord, there are three.
Each one is so special, each one has a need,
And they want their grandpa with them there to plead.
They come back there with me dancing all around;
They know God has heard us as we knelt on the ground.
The family is growing, they are adding more,
Soon, Lord, I’ll be kneeling there in prayer with four.
Help me, Lord, to show them by my life each day
They can always kneel there with me then to pray.
May I never fail them, Christ in me to see,
May they know their grandpa loves You earnestly.
May they hear me praise You for Your precious Son
Saving this old sinner, lost and so undone.
May they as a small child know how much You care
And you want to hear them with every little prayer.
Years have passed so quickly since my kids were small,
I tried hard to teach them to give You their all.
Yes, they may have wandered; yes, they may have failed,
But they knew their father in prayer for them prevailed.
So now as my grandchildren kneel around with me,
Once again, dear Father, hear my humble plea.
Help them, Lord, to love You, accept You while they’re small,
And help them growing older to stay close to Your call.
No matter where they travel, no matter if they fall,
Help them know their grandpa will always to You call.
Help all in my family whether here or there
Know they have a grandpa and a father knelt in prayer.
