A Prayer For His Soul
She cried softly in pain as quick death took her man
Then they buried him deeply in crystalline sand
She had loved him because of just who he became
And she prayed for his soul as he was not to blame
She had loved him since childhood she knew - long ago -
Before war came to be in their lives high and low
Before death raised its head and took youngsters away
From a life filled with love turned to hate so they say
He was shot in the head on a warm Summer night
In a jungle afar - was it wrong - was it right
There's a son, there's a wife, there's a grave on the knoll
There's a thought of a man and a prayer for his soul
