A Point of View
A Point of View
Stray thoughts mingle with an early mornings mist
That lies across the distant hills
A flaccid sea caresses pebbles worn
By time, its goodness and its ills.
Greys and greens change constantly upon
A surface flecked with coloured lights
While images slide gently through my mind
Of younger days, and troubled nights.
Faint shadows fall like brush-strokes newly laid.
A changing sea, an ever changing life
Pulls gently with the ebbing tide
Exposing all that life has left behind
For all to see, nowhere to hide.
The surface dries, a crusty skin appears
Weathered by the course of years
Lived day by day as time keeps moving on
A life of choices, seen through tears.
A final canvas waiting to be made.
