A Poet's Gift

A Poet's Gift

To some the gift is given,
insight received from heaven;
the poet doth then unfold
its light in the depth of his soul.

Words of sadness and of love,
inspiration from the muse's trove,
metered verse blessed with rhyme
devised to stand the test of time.

A poet may make one laugh or cry
hoping each penned line doth supply
all readers with a deep rapport
with each simile and metaphor.

Aha! And don't we all have a hidden side? I like this one.

You are an artistic word player; I like the way you manipulated my heart with this one.
