A Poets Epitaph

Through words and rhyme I've weaved
Through smiles and tears I've grieved
But the greatest gift I'll leave
Is my words that I believed

Today I need some help
From more than just myself
So I know it won't be long
For the day I hear my song

Though I was briefly here
My death I do not fear
For I know I brought a smile
Through my words, if for just awhile

So if today is the day I'm gone
I hope my words live on
Then maybe my stay was worthwhile
As I walk my final mile

But as my life begins to fade
I still wonder if I made the grade
For my short brief time I lay-ed
Is now posted above my grave
