A Poetic Ensemble
Like an unannounced gust of wind across the prairie,
They sometime are born in a late-night dream.
Often in bits and pieces, they form a scene.
They occasionally are fashioned and formed
with ease, and at other times, they seem to
have a mind of their own, leading me down a
path I've never been. With them, I learn to
flow and grow, becoming a little more creative.
There are times when they are beautiful and charming;
and at other times, they are sad, puzzling, alarming.
They take me backwards and forward; up and down. But they
never leave me stranded, alone, or without some form of
assistance. They will occasionally leave a puzzle, and insist
that I orchestrate the bits and pieces into an ensemble of poetry.
I then inhale the fresh winds of poetic life and
exhale anything that would hinder the river flow.
Yielding to the inspirational power of poetic presence,
I begin to write and excel with very little effort.
