A Poet No More
The world's pace, unkept by a lagged mind
Advancement met only with reversion
Pursuit of yesterday, neglecting today
Failure promising, success fading
A summit of pride, crumbled to a plea.
Volumes shy away, to an audible stay
Pulses unsettled by familiar faces
Spoken words of despair, frantic writings
Attempts to accumulate, left in deficit
A wish to revive, met with a sombre mourn.
Blame dimming, with every passing
Responsibility imposed, through every reflection
Palms meet, prepping a false repent
Beseeching hope, as fate is realized
A desperate being; a being evading consequence.
Completion found, to remain incomplete
Memories unrecorded, alter
Descriptions remembered, discarded
Unbalanced commitments, wearing time
A heart assuming joy, only to question its purpose.
Paper rejected, glass distracting
Platforms varying, results unrelenting
Spontaneous lines, end upon visibility
Successive thoughts, not conducive
A poet no more, I cannot disguise.
