A poem I should not have to write

It is a poem nobody wants to write, About what will never be right, About those who think they have the right, To take from a child all that is bright, And make the sun disappear out of sight. When something is so wrong, Where do those who do this wrong belong, And for how long. It is beyond my understanding, With the sun in my childhood mostly shining, How one could contemplate this kind of undertaking, And think they have a right to belong, In the world free of any thoughts of wrongdoing, When so many look forward to hearing the sound of children singing. Yet we must write about this wrong, Put it in a song, For to reach even one, before they do this wrong, Will encourage a better song, About one less wrong. That moved us further towards the light, And a future that is bright.
