A Poem

Write a letter to the twinkling star, Write a letter to the singing bird, Write a letter to the mountains far And never care if it will be heard. Write a song to the singing voice And let your heart with gladness rejoice. Write a song to the whispering lips And let your soul dance and applaud with claps. Write a letter to the beautiful damsel; And if you can even call her Annabel... And then look at the suffering woman And write a letter to the drunk old man. Write a letter to the lake and the pond, And let a wise man understand. Write a song to the forest and the tree And just hope the fool will finally see. Take a look at the rising fog And write praises to Jehovah God. And take a look at the ground mist And write praises to Jesus Christ. Arrange the words with much desire, Let your heart be on fire... A fool will see and call it a waste of time; But a wise man will call it a poem.
