Hi, Anne-Lise: Gertrude Stein was a visionary patron of the arts who (almost) single-handedly kept struggling artists like Picasso, van Gogh and others afloat during their early years...She also tried to reproduce Picasso's 'cubism' in her writing, accounting for some bizarre novels...But she is perhaps most famous for one line she wrote: 'A rose is a rose is a rose.'
