A Pilgrim On the Road
In each year that passes by,
There is a thousand times to whisper
The name of our Founder whose life we recall
In the hallmark of truth and his noble works.
Beyond those races that afflict unity,
Those differences that bring no harmony;
Beyond those tears that nourish to hope
Are life experiences that would make us grow.
Like a shadow of the sea that moves so calmly,
Like a brilliance of the sun that shines upon us.
In any smile of nature that shows from afar
There is one but love that covers them all.
In the throes of struggle which Scalabrini had
Filled with faith, vigour, and human acts to love,
With his desire to serve and be of help to migrants
Brought him to the map and led his men to be right.
Mindful of his countrymen’s welfare and right
To uplift their freedom and dignity with other equals
He crossed the oceans and landed for some time
And gave meaning to his world of migrant survival.
Now that we extol him for his wondrous deeds,
A legacy to keep, a treasure to cherish,
That invitation to move on his journey to serve
These poor, oppressed migrants in the hiddenness of their life.
