A Photograph From Up Above
Lightning strikes and brightens up the nighttime sky,
Capturing life on Earth for that one brief moment.
The world below becomes a memory for only my eyes,
A photograph to ponder about what it all meant.
In the beginning, there were many drafts of the Earth,
And not one of them included the human race.
The universe had been expanding since its birth,
Providing life for many other species throughout space.
Creating life on Earth was almost an afterthought,
A decision that weighed heavily on my mind.
It was a topic on which the Devil and I fought,
But what the hell; I guess I was the gambling kind.
