A Phone Call

As my daddy tucks me in
He reads my favorite book to me,
I feel so lucky to have him
For i'm daddys girl you see.

Thinking he'd be here forever
He received a phone call today,
A man told him he was sorry
But my daddy has to go away.

I ran to him hugging so tight
Gave him a big kiss goobye,
He told us not to worry about him
But all mommy and i could do was cry.

As we watched the news
Mommy told me about the war,
I feared for my daddys safty
Hugging me, we cried once more.

Late on night mommy got a call
I prayed please dont let this be,
It was daddy on the other end
Waiting at the airport for mommy and me.
