A Pebble, This River

This river travels through the world,
Traversing cultures; mysteries unfurl.
A rock caught in the current; this pebble,
Rough firstly, each scrape, bump; at times trouble.
Overcoming tribulations, the current; this rock,
Travels along the bed; foundations.
It’s surface smoothing, landing on the bank;
Baking in the sun with waves over top; soothing.
Not an end, but a living journey; this river,
And a pebble looking for identity to be delivered.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

An excellent write! As mentioned, our own lives take tumbles, hit bubbling to calm waters, and land somewhere. Your metaphor of the river + a tossed pebble is most appropriate. Be well. Brian

A fine poem in every way. There are so many pebbles and so many rivers. I'd love to see every river, snd hear every poem about them. It's refreshing to read this poem

Great journey for a river - and pebbles. And, of course, we all have our journeys - as does a river. Thanks for pleasant poem, Michael.

Just like the pebble, we can overcome any obstacle. Your words are deep and powerful, and the message within is very clear. You've created a masterpiece, Michael. My best to you. ~ Brandy

This poems is very deep , it is as if the poet is using the pebble and the river to speak of the journey of a people or a person and what they have encountered on this journey but through it all ,they press on ,knowing that their journey ,struggles would not be in vain. Loved it, awesome job!
