A Party To Remember

A Party To Remember
----------------------------
I was invited to a party
by someone I didn’t know,
but after getting all dressed up
decided not to go.

Next day my friends told me
I was a big success,
and just before I left
was seen talking to the press.

Tried to tell them they were wrong
for how could they believe,
that as I never did arrive
how could they see me leave.

My friends were quite insistent
so sure that I was there,
could not convince them otherwise
and so left in despair.

It still plays on my mind
could I really have been seen,
interacting with my friend
in a place I have never been.
