A Parting Night

Far away in the sultry night A horn impatient blowing Conscience delayed the vulture's flight The heart's intent is knowing And the candles left still burning And the song is playing softly O bed with comfort conspiring To break a heart ungently Far away in the sultry night Love is conquered and decieved The luscious apple brims the sight And sorrow's pale web is weaved I know you would not stay for long I felt your heart receding You could not dance to just one song Go down, your car is waiting.

A pleasure to read your poetry today David. I will try to come back later this week to read more. I have a spring cold and not up to reading for too long. Have a wonderful week. Love, Carol
