A Painful Goodbye

At first I could not cry,
The shock was so severe.
I can't believe we lost you,
A friend held so dear.

I did not know you for long,
But it felt like years.
Now I sit alone it sinks in,
I cannot stop the tears.
To hear this tragic news about you,
Was one of my biggest fears.
I always hoped you would be back,
But reality has hit me with a smack.

You were a great friend with a huge heart,
Though we lived oceans apart.

You always did your best,
And now you are at rest.
Fun, happy, kind and true,
I will never forget you.
Though my heart may not fully mend.
Rest In Peace my dear friend.

A really lovely but tragic tribute. There is no mending just learning to cope and to live the life the departed would have liked to keep. Kind regards, Ian

Thank you Ian, that's very kind of you. Yes it's tragic when friends are taken long before their time and long before their life could truly begin
