A Page In the Book of My Life

For years I did the dance
Of private clubs and black bow tie
The pomp and circumstance
I never even questioned why

Celebrities I met
Were interesting to say the least
I've not forgotten yet
The way they'd laugh, drink and feast

I didn't swoon or fawn
For I was there to do my work
Sometimes they'd dance till dawn
The wine would flow, the coffee perk

I'd see them every season
They knew me and would warmly greet
They didn't need a reason
I'd gladly scramble to my feet

I'd travel to and fro
A different time,a different state
And I would always know
A normal life would have to wait

Well now I spend my hours
Crafting and creating rhyme
To stop and smell the flowers
These days is how I bide my time

A weaver does that, and we are all weavers of words ... you make splendid things out of truth.

This started out as a poem for Caroline's work contest but it got too long lol! I really did work for years at resort hotels and private clubs in Florida and all over New England..Deb
