A Note On the Wind I Followed

One day, having no cares, as I walked along
my mind was like a slate needing written upon,
for no words had I – not even a song.
Any thoughts coming to me were just as soon gone.

Soon enough there came as if out of nowhere
a sound! A note on the wind I followed.
One note – long and lovely – piercing the air.
It led to the woods, in whose sounds it got swallowed.

The note I had followed for a short time
became the woods’ murmurs so calming to me.
I stopped and sat down and thought up a rhyme.
The wind led me where to write poetry!

Amazing what a sound can do...a tweet, a beep, a bark...or just a note on the wind. Lovely write, Andrea. I was almost afraid to read thinking it was for my contest...but I knew better of you :)

well, originally it was FOR your contest (until I saw I did not read your directions carefully enough), so then I had to redo it in free verse, to be posted later on!!

Andrea, you have portrayed it in a most lyrical way. Your inspiration led you outside, where you found what nature never fails to offer. Your poetry was enjoyable to read. Good luck with the contest
