A Night in the Hospital

The first night.
I’d rather be on a flight.
Even if it’s a desert away from home.
I’d be better than scratching walls made of stone.
But it’s called a first day for a reason.
In this place open no matter the season.
When I leave, summer will be over.
I missed my chance to pick a four leaf clover.
Against the wall I lean.
I feel a pain in my spleen.
But they are not here to help.
Even if I cry and yelp.
They turn off the lights at 9:00 sharp.
So it’s best not to harp.
They are working against me.
But if I’m good, maybe they’ll set me free.
