A New Life

Let me tell you a little something
About the growing pains,
Of recovery.
What shall I gain?
Just about everything
From giving my all
To my recovery and sobriety.
I will grow into something new,
Inti something stronger that I am today
That's not hell bent on hurting myself.
I shall remain calm and collected
Through my recovery.
Everyday is a new beginning,
A new chance to grow.
I must let myself use this chance
To let my new life blossom
And let my old life go.
I will grow beyond the bounds of my addiction,
Beyond the chains and shackles of my pains
And any obstacles I face.
Stand up
And face my demons,
Firmly say,
No,
You may not have this dance with me.
Now Angel's represent me,
I have my triple 4,
Collect my soul,
Polish it,
Watch it shine
As you watch me grow.
Nothing can slow me down.
Except maybe,
Stopping to smell the roses
And experiencing a happy memory.
Here's a reminder,
Those growing pains have thorns,
But don't use that as an excuse
To throw in the the towel,
Use it as a chance to
Create a whole new life,
Without thorns to tear at your progress.
This is the beginning of a whole new life,
I have to learn how to live all over again,
To trust whole heartedly in God,
To forgive,
Others
And myself
And to live without the use of drugs.
I have to become a entirely new me,
I know this process won't happen over night,
It will take time
And I will have to go at my own pace.
My journey home isn't a race.
I'm making progress,
Right here and now,
Quit testing my fate
And putting my full effort into creating a normal life,
For myself and my son.
I know I can do this,
There's a light at the end of the tunnel
Just waiting to welcome me.
Because I am worthy,
I deserve it
And I am enough.
Welcome to my new life,
The old one can rot in hell.
This newness consists of positivity,
Change,
Mercy
And recovery.
The sober me will be happy,
You just wait and see.
