A Mothers Plea
A MOTHERS PLEA
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS
Oh Battlefield, Take Not My Son from Me
Heed, Cede, Grant a Mothers Anxious Plea
Spare Him, So I May Not Suffer Lifelong Pain
Let Not Fruitless Prayers Unanswered Remain
Let His Being Be Not Just a Memory
Preserve His Being, Void a Tragedy
Do Not Maim Him in Spirit or Flesh for His Sake
Spare Me Bitterness Sorrow and Heartbreak
In His Place, I Would Gladly Exchange Places
Ring at the Door My Heart Frightened, Races
Parents Do Not Bury Children, That Should Never Be
Grant Him a Pardon So That in Time, He May Inter Me
As it Should Be
