A Mother's Love
When I found out I was pregnant, I was really thrilled
Because I didn’t want to have an only child.
“Boy or girl,” I thought, “All my dreams will be fulfilled.
Raising two wonderful children, now won’t that be wild?!”
One day, I went into labor and knew right away
That, no matter what, my life would never be the same.
It had been nine long months of waiting for that day,
And my prayers were answered when a healthy baby came.
Right away, I focused my attention on both of you
And I almost felt as if nothing else could matter.
During that nine months was when I really knew
That the two of you were dreams that no one could shatter.
It’s been over a year and I didn’t forget
The promise that I whispered to you both that night.
I will be your mother no matter how bad things get
And, as long as I’m alive, for you both, I will fight.
