A Mother's Heart

A mother's heart bleeds
as it beats
as she grieves
for all those lost
like fallen leaves

Her secrets mingle forever
with tears
Unlocked,
unshared,
the relentless years

She has no voice but
Love
Unreciprocated
unrequited
love

No role more testing
than her own
in the unfolding plan
she loves
alone

Powerless, she stands
before joy
before pain
as the arrows that pierce her heart
fall again
