A Missed Goodbye

It's awfully quiet here As I sit in reflection Not a word spoken Feeling the separation Do I dare to daydream A moment or two Reach in this hat of mine Pull out a vision of you Time is such a fickle thing Swear it was just yesterday But au contraire, my disbelief Years have flown away It dances all around me The lovely thought of you Always and forever Missing you has only grew It got me for a moment Something familiar in the air Fooled me once again Thought I felt you there The wind, it quickly changed Blinked, it passed me by Slipped through my fingers Lost my chance for goodbye

Incredibly poignant poetry! Your work is going to keep getting better! So write on dear poetess, write on! As a side note, when I am rhyming, I not only match the end words in some pattern or another, but I also match the sentence syllable count. Sooo, I'll do a 5757 ABAB quatrain, for example. It pulls the lines in so elegantly since the syllables matching also enhance the meter. I bet if you cleaned all the lines up syllable wise, this poem could win contests. Just wanting to help.
