A Memory Let Go

You can try so hard
To not fall asleep
Try so hard
For a memory to keep

But when that memory
Wants to let go
How would you take it?
How would you know?

If this memory is
All that you own
You can look at the number
And pick up the phone

That’s when you wake up
And know it’s not real
That when you lay down
And start to feel

When that memory
Starts to give up
When will you know?
When enough is enough

You can’t let it go
Cause it’s too hard to bear
How far would you go?
If that then where?

Cause I’m in that moment
The memory let go
The something we love
The something we know

Truly when something
Feels sort of like this
It is probably gone
That’s what it is
