A Measure of Love

I ask of you a simple thing
though distance places us quite far,
look to the stars when you feel lost
for there is where we are.
From across vaulted heavens
I send my smile out
and hope it may find you
in time to wash away the doubts.
these come with the territory,
being so far away seems so hard
at first; the longer the distance
it seems the more we stray.
But, know I measure not love
in the miles we are apart
but I measure simply in
the steady rhythm of these hearts,
that time keeps beating together.
